Watercolor often involves layering pigments to achieve the right hue or saturation. Adding blue washes can make an object appear in the distance or change the mood of a piece by making it 'cooler'- sad or wintry. You can over saturate your paper by adding too much pigment at once so it is a patience test. Add pigment, wait for it to dry, add more pigment..... Short on patience? You can use a hair dryer!
